Photographed a new listing in the El Camino Village area of Lawndale. I was honestly surprised at how nice the interior of this house is after the renovation. The developer and contractors all did a very good job with this house.

Nikon D5100 with an 18-50mm kit lens in full daylight.

Love the fireplace! Lighting is a mixture of sunlight through a large window at camera-right and an SB600 in TTL mode. Flash is bounced from the ceiling with a Stofen Omnibounce attached.

The kitchen is open and spacious and the island more than doubles the available counter space and would make for a great snack bar. I’ve been inside many homes in this neighborhood and I have to say, this kitchen is very impressive.

The contractors did an excellent job with the tile around the tub. Nice work!

Master bedroom and bath is quite spacious for the neighborhood. I’m impressed.

From a photography standpoint, this was a quick and easy shoot. Bounced flash, kit lens, manual exposure (f5.6, 1/125th, Auto Iso, Auto WB).

I then used Lightroom 4 and the new Lens Correction features to get rid of most of the cheap Nikon kit lens’ distortion. I also used the manual corrections tab in Lightroom to adjust some of the Horizontal and Vertical perspective.

I didn’t use a tripod and I did my best to keep the camera level but there was still some work to do in Lightroom. From start to finish, this job took less than an hour.

When my friend Stephanie asked me to photograph her engagement photos, I knew this would be a chance to get a little creative.

With the camera’s white balance set to flash, the sky turned a nice warm yellow. I used my trusty old Vivitar 285HV to add light to Stephanie and Pete.

Pete brought his Fender Telecaster, but it wasn’t long until Stephanie showed him how to really rock out.

I took the couple to the engagement photo factory, the Manhattan Beach Pier (there’s at least 10 wedding photographers working their magic at the pier at any given time).

I knew the couple wanted engagement pictures with some urban flair so I took them to my favorite “brick wall in an alley” which is just a short walk from the pier on Manhattan Beach Blvd.

We ended the day by getting our feet wet under the warm colors of a Manhattan Beach sunset.

Thank you, Stephanie and Pete! I can’t wait to photograph the wedding!!!
